Faith

"We can grow in faith only if we are willing to wait patiently for God's purposes and patterns to unfold in our lives, on His timetable."
" 'If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.' (Matt. 17:20.)

Hey! So I'm starting this blog as an idea for a project in my Teachings of the Living Prophets class. I thought it was a great idea to have a blog to simply share my testimony and inspirational things. For instance, I saw this video last year, and it has always stuck with me. I love her amazing spirit and her attitude even in the face of such a horrifying trial. Something that really stuck out to me was that she and her husband are so at ease that God has a plan for our lives. Absolutely no fear. She has incredible faith; faith overcomes fear. It is such a blessing to think that we can all have faith that can give us hope and keep us happy even through something as scary as cancer. I love how she admits that she was angry and goes through the process of when she realized that everything played out how it was supposed to- she was supposed to have her children (who are absolutely adorable!). In a world so depressing and evil, it's nice to know there are still people who have faith to move mountains.

"By definition, trials will be trying. There may be anguish, confusion, sleepless nights, and pillows wet with tears. But our trials need not be spiritually fatal. They need not take us from our covenants or from the household of God."

"Our faith is centered in God, our Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. It is bolstered by our knowledge that the fulness of the gospel has been restored to the earth, that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that prophets and apostles today hold the keys of the priesthood. We treasure our faith, work to strengthen our faith, pray for increased faith, and do all within our power to protect and defend our faith."
—Neil L. Andersen, "Trial of Your Faith", Liahona and Ensign, November 2012
"You show your trust in [God] when you listen with the intent to learn and repent and then you go and do whatever He asks. If you trust God enough to listen for His message in every sermon, song, and prayer in this conference, you will find it. And if you then go and do what He would have you do, your power to trust Him will grow, and in time you will be overwhelmed with gratitude to find that He has come to trust you."
—Henry B. Eyring, "Trust in God, Then Go and Do"
"When faith is properly understood and used, it has dramatically far-reaching effects. Such faith can transform an individual’s life from maudlin, common everyday activities to a symphony of joy and happiness."
—Richard G. Scott, "The Transforming Power of Faith and Character"
This precious and marvelous gift of faith, this gift from God our Eternal Father, is still the strength of this work and the quiet vibrancy of its message. Faith underlies it all. Faith is the substance of it all. Whether it be going into the mission field, living the Word of Wisdom, paying one's tithing, it is all the same. It is the faith within us that is evidenced in all we do."
Gordon B. Hinckley, "The Miracle of Faith," Ensign, May 2001, 68
"At the moment, these four guides—prayer, obedience to God's commandments, daily scripture study, and a commitment to follow the living prophet—may seem like small and simple things. Let me remind you of the scripture found in Alma: 'Behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass' (Alma 37:6). When applied in our everyday lives, these four 'small and simple' guides from the book of Joshua will combine to provide the most powerful source of courage and strength there is: faith in our Heavenly Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ."
Ann M. Dibb, "Be of Good Courage," Ensign, May 2010, 116
"Faith as the assurance of things hoped for looks to the future. This assurance is founded upon a correct understanding about, and trust in, God and enables us to 'press forward' (2 Nephi 31:20) into uncertain and often challenging situations in the service of the Savior."
David A. Bednar, "Seek Learning by Faith," Ensign, Sept. 2007, 62
“He is your beloved Heavenly Father, who seeks your good, your happiness. He desires with all the love of a perfect and pure Father that you reach your supernal destination. . . . All you have to do is trust your Heavenly Father. Trust Him enough to follow His plan.”
Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “Your Happily Ever After,” Ensign, May 2010, 127
“Faith is not a theological platitude. It is a fact of life. Faith can become the very wellspring of purposeful living. There is no more compelling motivation to worthwhile endeavor than the knowledge that we are children of God, the Creator of the universe, our all-wise Heavenly Father! God expects us to do something with our lives, and he will give us help when help is sought.”
Gordon B. Hinckley, "With All Thy Getting Get Understanding," Ensign, Aug. 1988, 2

"Patience is tied very closely to faith in our Heavenly Father. Actually, when we are unduly impatient, we are suggesting that we know what is best—better than does God. Or, at least, we are asserting that our timetable is better than His. We can grow in faith only if we are willing to wait patiently for God's purposes and patterns to unfold in our lives, on His timetable."
Elder Neal A. Maxwell, "Patience", Ensign, Oct. 1980, 28

"It may seem that the world is in commotion; and it is! It may seem that there are wars and rumors of wars; and there are! It may seem that the future will hold trials and difficulties for you; and it will! However, fear is the opposite of faith. Do not be afraid! I do not fear."
President Packer, "Counsel to Young Men", General Conference, Apr 2009
